Medication Safety Week 2026
2–8 November 2026

Medicines should improve health, not cause harm.

As we mark #MedSafetyWeek 2026, Beacon Institute for Global Health Research joins the global call to promote the safe use of medicines, strengthen awareness of medication-related risks, and encourage the reporting of suspected side effects.

Medication safety is a shared responsibility. Healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and health systems all have a role to play in making medicines safer for everyone.

#MedSafetyWeek is coordinated by the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC), the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, working with national pharmacovigilance centres around the world.

What you can do

  • Use medicines as prescribed.
  • Ask questions when in doubt.
  • Report suspected side effects to the appropriate health authorities.
  • Share information that helps protect others from medication-related harm.

Together, we can build a culture of medication safety and protect lives.

Know. Report. Prevent.
